Unit 10

) 10/4/2013 10:33 PM (Barb Engel) Edit

Comparing my assessment of where I am at for each aspect of my life, I feel that I have made a slight improvement from the unit 3 comparisons since I’ve furthered my education with all that we have learned in this class. The goals I had set back in Unit 3 are ones that I am still trying to achieve. The open communication with staff has always been an important aspect of my job and maintaining a positive climate at the clinic. I have made progress in my spiritual goal by locating a church nearby and attending a church service, although I have not attended the activity I mentioned of a Christian bible study. This goal is one that is going to be a bit more challenging. I have implemented exercising with a friend doing the relaxation exercises at night, which has been a huge benefit to my health.
I feel that this course has given me the opportunity look inside myself and figure out who I am as a person and what benefits I can be to our patients. I feel the role model material we have talked about will be the greatest benefit to my personal and professional development. I feel in a sense I have developed an improved well-being and more understanding of the holistic approach to medicine. The biggest reward is finding my true identity in the journey. I feel the most difficult has been the realization of my actions and how they affect others. This class has encouraged me to look at my patients in a whole different and unique perspective and how to develop a greater sense of well-being for them.

  1. Barb,
I think that this class has made many of us look inside ourselves which is something that I believe is important. we need to stay in touch with our own inner struggles so we can learn to improve and grow as human beings. I am so glad you have found a friend to workout with, that makes the process so much more enjoyable and I think, at least for me, it helps with accountability as well knowing I am working with someone else towards a similar goal.

    Good luck!!

  2. Hey Barb:
You are right about this class giving us the opportunity to look inside ourselves. It was always nice what I saw, but this class gave me the incentives and the means to make changes in my life. This class will stay with me for a long time and I plan to continue practicing the integral health exercise. Wishing you all the best for the future.

  3. It is always enlightening to realize how our actions or habits affect ourselves or others. It is easy to develop blinders at times, especially in a work environment when what we are doing or need to do leaves little room for interpretation. It is admirable that you are striving for better communication and a better clinic climate; that is refreshing to hear.

    Good luck and best wishes,
